OUR STORY
Every Frame Has a Past. This Is Ours

Pink Coyote Films was founded in 2025.
In Kansas City, Kansas, by Matthew R. Paden on a simple but unwavering belief: stories don’t have to be loud to leave a lasting impression—they just have to be honest.
Shaped by years of creative exploration and a lifelong pull toward visual storytelling, Pink Coyote marks a return to something more grounded and intentional.
After studying digital media and filmmaking in the early 2000s, Matthew spent decades sharpening his eye—not just as an artist, but as an observer of people, behavior, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed.
That perspective now sits at the core of every project the company undertakes. Pink Coyote isn’t built on spectacle. It’s built on intention.
The company’s first two short films, Apples Keep Quiet and Busk, reflect that philosophy. These are intimate, character-driven stories that lean into restraint, atmosphere, and emotional subtext.
Rather than telling audiences what to feel, these films invite them to sit in the space between words—to experience what lingers beneath the surface. It’s filmmaking that trusts the audience.
There’s also something deeply personal about starting this journey in Kansas City. The textures of the Midwest—the stillness, the grit, the understated beauty—inform the tone and visual language of Pink Coyote’s work.
These are stories shaped by place as much as by character.
At its heart, Pink Coyote Films is about creating meaningful work without compromise. It’s about embracing the small stories that carry big emotional weight.
And it’s about building something lasting—one carefully told story at a time.
This is just the beginning.
